about

One day at band practice, while Dylan was in the bathroom, James and Ryan were passing ideas back and forth. The idea of writing a song that reminded them of a mist path through the woods came up. James played the intro riff and Ryan came up with the idea of having it switch from a clean tone to a distorted one for the chorus. James went home and wrote the rest of the instrumental on his acoustic. It made James think of the idea of lost memories, or a feeling you couldn't explain. He looked up the idea and found a few pieces of poetry about it. He quoted one of them and his favourite anime while writing the lyrics. He passed them off to Ryan, who added a winding, drifting melody to them.

lyrics

That unnameable something
The desire for which pierces us
Like a rapier at the smell of bonfire
Of the sound of wild doves flying over head
Or the title of "the Well at the World's End"
Or the opening lines of "Kubla Khan"
Or the morning cobwebs in late summer
Of the noise of breaking waves

(Chorus)
Is it something I once had or never did
Am I looking for an answer or a question
Is it something that or maybe hid
What ever it is, I might never find it

Watermelon
Or like a panda with a mean face
Or like sandals with pressure points drawn on them
Or the smell of a black board eraser
Or Sunday morning where you wake up an it's raining

(Chorus)

What am I missing
Where did I lose it
What am I missing
Where did it go
What am I missing
Where did I lose it
What am I missing
Where did it go
Why can't I find
What I'm looking for
